Flights should arrive by no later than 1:30pm and campers will be met by a camp staff member at 2:00pm in the Observation Gallery of the airport. Campers will then be transported to camp via a chartered yellow school bus. The Observation Gallery is on the upper level of the airport next to Urban Burger and directly behind the American Airlines Counter. The meeting spot is outside security, so the campers can pick up their luggage at baggage claim and then head upstairs to the Observation Gallery.
Trains should arrive no later than 2:00pm and campers will be picked up from the main entrance of the BWI Amtrak Station at 2:30pm by a chartered yellow school bus. The BWI Amtrak Station is small and quite manageable even for a relatively new solo traveler.
Campers will be driven directly to the Naval Academy and dropped off at the dormitory for move-in. Check-in will take place on the shuttle.
*Please note that parents accompanying their daughters are welcome to use our airport/train shuttle, but we do not offer additional shuttle service beyond the dormitory drop-off. Most parents choose to rent a car instead from the airport and follow our “travel by car” check-in instructions instead.
At the end of camp, our shuttle will drop each camper off in front of their airline’s departure area. A representative of our camp will direct each camper towards her ticket counter but will not accompany her to the check-in desk so campers must be prepared to navigate check-in and security on their own. Campers can expect to be dropped off at the airport by 1:30pm and should schedule departing flights no earlier than 3:30pm to allow adequate time for check-in and security.
Campers traveling by train will be dropped off at the main BWI Amtrak entrance – staff are not able to accompany campers inside and cannot sign unaccompanied minor release forms. Campers can expect to be dropped off by 1:45pm and should schedule departing trains no earlier than 2:30pm to allow adequate time for possible traffic and navigating the station.
AIRPORT/AMTRAK SHUTTLE SERVICE
For campers traveling alone to/from camp via plane or train, we offer a complimentary shuttle service to and from BWI Airport and Amtrak Station. Please note that this is a curb side service only and we do not have staff camped out at the airport/train station all morning. To utilize this service, please make sure to review all information included below regarding unaccompanied minors and arrival/departure timing and provide us your travel details in our transportation request form (not necessary if you have already provided these details in your original application).
Each individual airline/train has its own policies regarding minors. If your daughter will be traveling alone, you should contact your choice of airline/train carrier about their rules governing minors. In some instances, if your child is very young, your airline or train will require her to have a designated chaperone. If your daughter is in this category, she will not be able to use our free shuttle service. Due to the large amount of campers traveling to and from each session of camp, our staff cannot act as a personal chaperone for any individual camper.
If you have provided us with your daughter's travel details (either via her original application or through our online transportation form) and your daughter’s flight or train is delayed for any reason, our main camper shuttle will still need to depart at the scheduled times above, but we will send an additional staff member to pick her up. We will be in communication with both the camper and her parents to ensure a safe arrival to camp. *Please note that we only offer this extended pick-up service for delayed or canceled flights that were scheduled to arrive within our arrival guidelines above. If you choose to book a flight or train that is scheduled to arrived after 1:30pm (flight) / 2:00pm (train), it will be the camper's responsibility to arrange transportation to our stadium check-in by no later than 3:00pm.
